Susil Premajayantha meets members of the Japan-Sri Lanka Parliamentary League in Tokyo

Minister of Environment and Renewable Energy and the President of the Sri Lanka-Japan Parliamentary League Susil Premajayantha, during an official visit to Japan, met with members of the Japan-Sri Lanka Parliamentary League on Monday, 7 October in Tokyo. The luncheon, hosted by President of the Japan-Sri Lanka Parliamentary League and Vice President of the Liberal Democratic Party Masahiko Komura was held in honour of Minister Premajayantha, currently the President of the Sri Lanka-Japan Parliamentary League. Senior Japanese parliamentary members attended the luncheon and discussed matters of mutual interest with the Minister. Minister Premajayantha as President of the Sri Lanka-Japan Parliamentary League spoke of the strong relations that both Japan and Sri Lanka have continued and maintained over the years. The Minister spoke of intended exchanges between the Leagues in both countries and warmly welcomed members of the Japanese league to visit Sri Lanka. Secretary General of the Japan-Sri Lanka Parliamentary League and Former Senior Vice Minister of Finance and Member of the House of Representatives Yuko Obuchi, in response, conveyed the intention of the Japanese Parliamentary League members to visit Sri Lanka in January 2014. At a meeting held with Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan Yoshitaka Shindo, the Minister further discussed the ongoing deliberations on the introduction of digitalisation to Sri Lanka. The Minister also extended his gratitude to the Government of Japan for the assistance rendered to Sri Lanka over the years and paid special emphasis to the longstanding work of JICA in Sri Lanka.
