“Strive with commitment for the Socio-Economic development of the country while ensuring national unity in order to create a better tomorrow for the future generation”, said Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa addressing the staff of the Ministry at a gathering held yesterday at the Ministry premises.
A large number of senior officials of the institutions under the preview of the Ministry and military officers were in attendance at the event organized in view of the New Year.
Further speaking Rajapaksa praised the untiring efforts of all institutions towards achieving the development goals. “We accomplished a number of development projects during the previous year and at the dawn of the New Year we now determine to work continuously toward the plans ahead in keeping with the Mahinda Chinthana manifesto,” he also said.
Secretary Defence wished all for a successful and prosperous year ahead.
A One minute silence was observed in commemoration of the war heroes before taking the traditional oath by government servants during the event.
Chairperson of MOD Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs. Ioma Rajapaksa was also present at the occasion.
