Police probe alleged 2007 mass murder by LTTEThe police have launched investigations into an alleged mass murder of civilians, a police chief inspector and security force members carried out by the LTTE in Pudukudiruppu in 2007, police spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said. He said that based on information provided by two LTTE suspects in police custody, an investigation had been launched to locate the site where the bodies of the victims were buried. With the grave site being identified the police had today launched excavation work in the presence of the Kilinochchi Magistrate with the assistance of forensic experts. The police chief inspector allegedly killed by the LTTE was reportedly very active in curbing LTTE activities during the war. (Colombo Gazette) |
