Sri Lanka Relief Contingent felicitated

President Maithripala Sirisena, together with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe graced the felicitation ceremony held to appreciate the exceptional service rendered by the Sri Lanka Relief Contingent in humanitarian relief operations in Nepal at an event held at Temple Trees on 18 May.

Starting the proceedings, Sri Lankan Relief Contingent Commanding Officer Major General Maithri Dias presented a multimedia presentation enlightening the roles and tasks they carried out during their stay in Nepal.

Speaking at the occasion, President Sirisena and Prime Minister Wickremesinghe expressed their gratitude towards the relief contingent for their exceptional service during the relief operation.

As a symbolic gesture, President Sirisena presented plaques to the service commanders and appreciation letters to selected members of the Relief Contingent during the event.

The Sri Lankan Relief Contingent was the third team to arrive in Nepal after the devastating earthquake.

Ministers, distinguished guests, State Minister of Defence, Secretary of Defence, Chief of Defence Staff, Tri-Service Commanders, Sri Lanka Relief Contingent and their family members were also present at the occasion.
