Sri Lanka-Pakistan Friendship Association holds 48th AGM

The 65 year old Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship Association held its 48th AGM recently at Padang, Malay Club Premises. The meeting was chaired by the Sri Lanka-Pakistan Friendship Association President Ifthikhar Aziz. The High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka Maj. Gen. (R) Qasim Qureshi graced the event as the Chief Guest. The following were elected to the Executive Committee for 2014-2015: Patron: Qasim Qureshi Vice Patrons: Deshamanya Prof. M.T.A. Zurfick, Dr. Sajjad, M.C.M. Muneer, Fathima Razik Cader, Khadija Munas, A.M.A. Cader, Nawaziya Farook, Noor Abu Haniffa, Mirza Ameen and Marliya Siddeek. The Association has been able to establish itself as a useful platform, dedicated to the promotion of bilateral relationship and friendship between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. This relationship is not restricted to any one area or field, but it encompasses every aspect of bilateral cooperation i.e. people to people contacts, culture, education, health, etc. The Association is endeavouring to promote cultures and traditions of both nations by supporting and encouraging cultural exchanges, celebrating events of national importance of both nations etc. The SLPAFA also promotes various social welfare and fund-raising activities, student exchanges and encourages students to obtain admissions into the recognised learning institutions for higher studies in Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
