Sri Lanka condoles with Japanese people on landslide tragedy

Sri Lanka has expressed condolences to the Japanese people on landslide tragedy in Hiroshima that killed at least 39 people. “It is with a deep sense of shock and sadness that the people of Sri Lanka learnt of the devastating landslide that had struck Hiroshima Prefecture in Japan yesterday resulting in a number of deaths and massive destruction of property,” the External Affairs Ministry said in a statement. “The Government and people of Sri Lanka extend their deepest condolences to members of the bereaved families. Their thoughts and prayers are with the people of Japan during this difficult time, particularly all those whose lives have been affected by this devastating natural disaster.” Sri Lanka is confident that the Japanese people would be able to overcome the challenges with their innate fortitude and courage, the release said.
