Sri Lanka, Australia Foreign Ministers discuss bilateral issues

Minister of External Affairs Prof. G.L. Peiris, who is in Perth, Australia, has held bilateral discussions with Australian Minister of Foreign Affairs Julie Bishop, the External Affairs Ministry said.
The two Foreign Ministers met at the sidelines of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Ministerial Meeting in Perth, Western Australia and discussed a wide range of issues that are of mutual interest to both countries.
The discussions covered all aspects of the bilateral relationship, in particular the revamped Colombo Plan, the Joint Working Group between Sri Lanka and Australia, trade and investment, and security cooperation.
The 14th Meeting of the Council of Ministers and Other Related Meetings were held in Perth, Australia from 6-9 October. At the Council of Ministers meeting held Thursday (9 October), the Ministers discussed priority issues such as maritime safety and security, including cooperation on search and rescue, trade and investment facilitation, fisheries management, disaster risk management, academic, science and technology, tourism and cultural exchanges.
