Sunday the 10 July has been declared as a special day for the distribution of polling cards for the upcoming Local Government poll said the Deputy Post Master General R.D.P.Gamini. He revealed that the department has accepted 2.5 million polling cards for distribution and around five percent of official polling cards have been distributed so far. The distribution will conclude on the 16th of this month.
The Deputy Post Master General added that those who have not yet received their polling cards could visit their nearest post office and obtain their polling card once their identity has been established.
Elections in 65 local government bodies, postponed due to legal and security reasons will be held on the 23rd. Postal voting will take place on Tuesday. The Elections Secretariat said that nearly 60,000 employees who are being trained at district level will be deployed for election duty.
