The Korean Premier’s visit is a direct follow-up to the discussions at a summit meeting held by the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa with his Korean counterpart during his state visit to Seoul in April 2012.
The South Korean Prime Minister will call on President Rajapaksa and also hold discussions with his Sri Lankan counterpart Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne on further strengthening bilateral relations in various fields.
Prime Minister Chung is scheduled to participate at the ‘Korea-Sri Lanka Environmental Cooperation Forum’. He will also visit the Colombo port and engage in a dialogue with the Sri Lankan university students.
The Korean Embassy said the Prime Minister’s official visit to Sri Lanka is expected to further uplift the relationship between the two countries, especially in the field of economic development, energy and environment cooperation.
