SLMC to sit on the Government side

The SLMC officially crossed over to the government side during yesterday’s parliamentary sessions.

The leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress Rauff Hakeem who was sworn-in as the Minister of Justice has told the government media that all the eight parliamentarians of the SLMC will sit with the government during the presentation of the 2011 Budget.



At the last general election the SLMC contested under the main opposition United National Party (UNP) led opposition alliance United National Front and won 8 seats.  The party has been offered one ministerial and a deputy ministerial portfolio in the new cabinet.
