The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) yesterday said it would contest the upcoming local government elections along with the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) and some new political parties.
Addressing the SLFP media briefing, Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Minister Mahinda Amaraweera stressed SLFP members would not allow the party to be torn into pieces during the next local government polls.
“We expect to gather some more political parties to contest along with us and we hope it will ensure the SLFP’s remarkable victory. We will conduct discussions with them to obtain their partnership and the final decision would be taken after it,” he stated.
