Seminar to commemorate Islamic Women’s Day

By Ruzaik Farook ‘Social changes in the contemporary world and the women’ will be the theme of a seminar organised by the Iranian Cultural Centre, to commemorate Islamic Women’s Day on Monday 21 April 2014. The Governor of Southern Province, Kumari Balasooriya, will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. In addition four prominent scholars will present papers on topics relevant to the theme of the seminar. Islamic Women’s Day is commemorated annually the world over on the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of Hazrath Fathima Zahra, the beloved daughter of prophet Mohamed (PBUH). The birth anniversary of Hazrath Fathima (PBUH) which falls on 20 Jamad Thani according to the Hijri Lunar Islamic calendar, this year coincides with Monday, 21 April. The seminar is scheduled to begin at 3:45 p.m. at the Auditorium of the Iranian Cultural Centre at No.6, Sir Earnest De Silva Mawatha, Colombo-07. The Iranian Film ‘The family bond’ would be screened at the end of the seminar.
