Secretary to the President, P.B. Abeykoon, said the special responsibility of serving the public through the decisions of the political authority lies with public officials.
Abeykoon made these remarks while addressing the staff of the Presidential Secretariat commencing work for the New Year.
He also conveyed his appreciation to state officers for their contribution in programs carried out by President Maithripala Sirisena for the development of the country during the past two years.
He further stated that the staff of the Presidential Secretariat, when fulfilling their respective duties, should act in a manner which will protect the dignity of the President as well as the country. Abeykoon also said that a mistake made by one person could affect the whole Government mechanism.
The staff of the Presidential Secretariat took a pledge to work efficiently and productively with commitment when fulfilling state policies and objectives. Abeykoon wished everyone strength and courage to fulfill the aspirations of the people and to achieve success in the program of eliminating poverty in 2017 in Sri Lanka through rapid development.
All the members of the staff of the Presidential Secretariat were present at the event.
