Attanagalla Magistrate Kavindya Nanayakkara yesterday released United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) MP and former Minister Sarana Gunawardena on bail after he was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on charges of criminal breach of trust.
Gunawardena was released on five personal bails of Rs. 5 million. He was produced in Court on charges of having swindled Rs. 9.6 million from a businessman. Gunawardena was also ordered to hand over his passport to Court and to report to the CID on Sunday between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. He was arrested by the CID on 12 March.
