Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa declared open the ‘Sahasak Nimevum’ National Inventions Exhibition at the BMICH Canopy Hall yesterday.
This is the First ever National Exhibition to Show case inventors and innovations of Sri Lankans organised by the Sri Lankan Inventors Commission which functions under the Ministry of Research and Technology.
The exhibition will continue until 2 October from 9.30a.m. to 7p.m.
Over 900 exhibits are on display with 526 from schools, 300 from open category, 82 from university, technical and tertiary education institutions and 13 under commercialised category.
Among innovations on display include mechanics, engines, machinery, tools, industrial processes, metallurgy; clocks and watches, jewellery, machinery; clothing, textiles, machines and accessories; medicine , surgery, orthopedics material for the handicapped; optics photography, cinematography; teaching methods and materials, musical instruments, art materials; transport, motor vehicles, ships aviation, accessories; foodstuffs, drinks, cosmetics, paramedical, health hygiene; sport, leisure; practical novelties, presents; publicity printing, packaging; games and toys.
Minister of Technology and Research Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Minister of Education Bandula Gunawardhana, Sri Lanka Inventors Commission Commissioner Deepal Sooroarachchi and Government officials also participated at the opening.
