Rs. 625 m grant Japan to improve healthcare facilities

Based on long-term economic cooperation between the two countries, the Government of Japan has agreed to provide grant assistance of Rs. 625 million under Non Project Grant Aid. The Government of Sri Lanka has decided to utilise this grant to improve the healthcare facilities in national hospitals, teaching hospitals, provincial hospitals, district hospitals, base hospitals and primary medical care units to uplift the health standards of Sri Lankan citizens.
The provision of this grant assistance includes medical and welfare related equipment, materials and training opportunities for operation and maintenance of the equipment.
The signing of exchange of notes pertaining to the above grant took place at the Ministry of Finance and Planning.
Ambassador of Japan in Sri Lanka Nobuhito Hobo signed the exchange of notes on behalf of the Government of Japan while Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Finance and Planning Dr. B.M.S. Batagoda signed on behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka.
