Rotaractors to inspire sustainable action through the ‘Vision to Action’ Rotaract Conference. The Rotaract District Conference is an annual event organiced to provide opportunities for networking, active learning, and discussion of contemporary trends in youth development.
The event recognises service programmes, projects and public relation achievements in the district in order to inspire even more, impactful action from Rotaractors. The conference will be held on the 22 and 23 April, in which Day 1 will be at the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre while Day 2 will be held at BMICH premises.
The Rotaract District Conference has been themed in line with the official district theme of the year 2016-17, ‘Vision to Action,’ which inspires Rotaractors to strive for more action that is impactful by enacting upon their sustainable vision.
The Rotaract District 3220 is the body, which administers the 70+ Rotaract Clubs located in Sri Lanka and Maldives. Each of these include over 3500 Rotaractors who are actively serving for a better world. The District Rotaract Representative for 2016/17, Rtr. Mohammed Husni at the Rotaract District Assembly unveiled the theme ‘Vision to Action’ in July 2016.
The theme highlights upon the intent of the Rotaract movement to align itself with the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and lead communities towards sustainability. The traditional single day event has been phased out into a broader value-sharing platform through the two-day model.
Three key thematic areas of focus identified by the organisers are ‘Youth,’ ‘Sustainability’ and ‘Innovation’. The conference serves as a catalyst for sustainable youth engaging initiatives and upholds the true principles of inclusive development. As a leading youth-led movement, Rotaract has been focused in empowering the young leaders to drive sustainable action through impactful innovative mechanism. The forum will transcend the general norms channelling to embrace innovative, disruptive and sustainable practices of both corporate and youth groups.
The joint organising committee of the ‘Vision to Action’ Rotaract Conference comprises of the Rotaract District Committee and the representative of the hosting Rotaract Clubs of National School of Business Management (NSBM), Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT), Excellence College of Management and General Sir John Kotalawela Defence University.
The ‘Vision to Action’ Rotaract Conference 2017, is a milestone in the Rotaract movement in Sri Lanka and Maldives. It will be of significant importance as Rotaractors are leading sustainable change in their own communities.
