The main opposition United National Party (UNP) sources say that the party has decided to appoint two new members to the party’s newly established Leadership Council.
The party sources say names of parliamentarians D.M. Swaminathan and Rosy Senanayake have been proposed to the Council chaired by the parliamentarian Karu Jayasuriya.
They will replace UNP rebels Sajith Premadasa and Thalatha Atukorale who have refused to assume the positions in the nine-member council that is being delegated to lead the party.
The naming of the two new members will be taken place at a special meeting of the UNP Leadership Council that is to be held on 2 January. (Colombo Page)
