Rear Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe assumed duties as the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy, receiving the blessings of the Venerable Maha Sangha during his appointment at Naval Headquarters this week.
The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, presented him with his letter of appointment.
In view of the fact that former Chief of Staff Rear Admiral Wijegunaratne was appointed as the Commander of the Navy, while also being elevated to the rank of a three-star Vice Admiral, Rear Admiral Ranasinghe was appointed to the vacant post.
Prior to his new appointment, he was the Director General of the Sri Lankan Coast Guard.
