Kicking off his election tour of the Northern Province yesterday, UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe called on the people of the region to cast their ballot for the elephant symbol at the 21 September poll, pledging to offer a just and equitable solution to the island’s ethnic question.
Addressing an election meeting at Wallipuram in Jaffna yesterday, Wickremesinghe said that only a UNP Government could bring about a political solution that would unite the Sinhalese, Tamil and Muslim communities, protect everyone’s human rights and ensure justice and equality for all communities of Sri Lanka.
“A vote for the UNP is a vote for the country,” the UNP Leader told supporters at the meeting.
“From Dondra to Point Pedro, we have one message, that is that only the UNP can give the youth of this country a future,” Wickremesinghe said.
