Over the past week racist propaganda has been appearing around Kegalle in a bid to dissuade voters from casting their ballots for candidates from the minorities.
The United National Party General-Secretary Kabir Hashim, who is a candidate in Kegalle, condemns this cheap ploy. Furthermore, his staff will be making an immediate complaint with the election commission.
This tactic highlights the fact that opponents of Kabir Hashim are unable to conduct a clean and fair contest. While Hashim discusses the welfare of all communities in Kegalle, his opponents are attempting to gain ground through futile racist propaganda.
He is confident that the voters in Kegalle will not be swayed by such cheap tactics and remains committed to serving all the people of Kegalle, regardless of ethnicity.
Hashim stresses that racism has no part in Sri Lanka’s society and that this election is the perfect opportunity for the people to have their voices heard in this regard.
