Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II in a message to the Sri Lankan President sent wishes of ‘happiness and prosperity’ to Sri Lanka to mark the country’s Independence Day, yesterday.
“It gives me great pleasure to send Your Excellency my warmest greetings on the celebration of your National Day, together with my best wishes for the happiness and prosperity of the people of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in the coming year – Elizabeth R.”The former colony of the United Kingdom, Sri Lanka gained independence from the monarchy in 1948.
