Government and Opposition provincial councillors belonging to the Inter Provincial Council Federation (IPCF) have requested a meeting with President Mahinda Rajapaksa to discuss issues faced by the provincial councils for the past 22 years.
IPCF Secretary Sanjeewa Kaviratne has told the media that there has been much discussion about the 13th Amendment that has formed the basis for the formation of the provincial councils.
He has said that it has become a much discussed issue between India and Sri Lanka as well.
According to Kaviratne, the IPCF hoped to brief the President on all the problems faced by the councils and to present him with a report of a survey that highlights the issues faced by the provincial councils since its inception 22 years ago. (www.colombopage.com)
