President Mahinda Rajapaksa speaking at a cordial discussion held with the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Lawyers Association at Temple Trees on Friday evening said that it is the duty of all patriotic citizens to safeguard the good image of the country.

The President pointed out that without representing one community, religion or a party, they should fulfil duties as Sri Lankans on behalf of the motherland. He said that he is distressed about some persons who have no feeling for the country and that some people who represent various NGOs and other organisations forget the country.

He further added that lawyers of this association should be concerned about such situations. He said that the Government can march forward due to the work it has done so far. He said the war was ended and development was launched and the Government respects the legal system.

Ministers Maithreepala Sirisena, Basil Rajapaksa, Nimal Siripala de Silva, Prof. G.L. Peiris and Pavithra Wanniarachchi were among the large gathering present.
