President Maithripala Sirisena and representatives from the Indian fishermen associations held talks yesterday on the fishing dispute involving Sri Lankan and Indian fishermen.
The President told the Indian fishermen that he would like to see this issue resolved through negotiations without it harming Indo-Lanka ties.
The President’s Office said that at the occasion, President Sirisena told the Indian fishermen that he had also urged the Sri Lankan authorities to ensure that talks were aimed at reaching a solution over the fishing dispute between the two countries.
