President arrives in Seoul, South Korea

President Mahinda Rajapaksa and First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa arrived at the Seoul Air Base on an invitation extended by the Korean President Lee Myung-Bak.



South Korea’s Vice Foreign Minister Kim Sung-han welcomed President Rajapaksa on his arrival at the airport.

The President was accorded a guard of honor by the South Korean Army.

During his visit President Rajapaksa will hold bilateral discussions with his South Korean counterpart and is to address the Sri Lanka-Korean Business Forum hosted by the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Several bilateral agreements will also be signed during the visit.  The President will also meet with Heads of leading trade organizations in South Korea.

A Sri Lankan business delegation will travel with the President to South Korea.

Minister of External Affairs Prof. G. L. Peiris, Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga, Sri Lanka Ambassador in South Korea Tissa Wijeratne and Governor of the Central Bank Ajith Nivard Cabraal also accompanied the President.
