The Elections Commission will expose the names of all candidates who fail to submit their asset declarations by the end of August, Polls Chief Mahinda Deshapriya told the Daily FT yesterday.
Elections officials have already dispatched letters to candidates who are yet to submit their declaration, despite the looming 30 August deadline, the Elections Commissioner said.
“We will take steps to reveal all the names of those who fail to comply with the regulation to submit their asset declarations once the deadline lapses,” he said.
Deshapriya added that the Elections Commission was still collating information on how many candidates had complied with the regulations thus far.
“The figures are not yet at hand, but once they are ready, the Department will issue a media release,” he said.
