The Police Special Investigation Unit yesterday recorded a statement from Parliamentarian Tiran Alles over alleged financial fraud.
On Tuesday the passports of Alles along with five other Directors of the Radha Company were impounded by the Fort Magistrate’s Court in connection with alleged fraud in companies purportedly set up to reconstruct houses for those affected by the Tsunami.
In 2006 the Radha Company is said to have obtained roughly Rs. 645 million from the Treasury for the purpose of constructing houses for Tsunami-affected the residents of the East Coast. It was revealed that despite taking the money they had failed to build any of the houses.
