former Navy Commander Wasantha Karannagoda Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday told Parliament that information relating to certain activities carried out by former Navy Commander Wasantha Karannagoda would be revealed in the future. Speaking during the second day of the debate on the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, the Prime Minister accused Karannagoda, who served as the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Japan, of lying. Wickremesinghe was responding to a comment made by Opposition MP Wimal Weerawansa that Sri Lanka had sent troops to Japan following the tsunami. Weerawansa said that the Prime Minister had misled Parliament by claiming that Sri Lankan troops sent to Nepal following the earthquake last weekend, were the first such military support to be provided to a foreign country to assist in disaster recovery operations. The National Freedom Front Leader said that when Karannagoda was Ambassador to Japan, he had made arrangements for a military team to be sent to Japan following the devastating tsunami in that country.
