Phase one of Greater Dambulla water project opens

The first phase of ‘Greater Dambulla’ water supply project was opened recently by City Planning and Water Supply Minister Rauf Hakeem.

The completion of the project will have a total water capacity to produce 30,000 cubic meters per day, which will benefit nearly 174,000 people in six Divisional Secretariat Divisions in Dambulla and Anuradhapura Districts.  The cost of the project is $ 77. 8 million is funded by the Government, EXIM Bank of India, and People’s Bank.

 All the water purifications of this project will be done in accordance of the standards of World Health Organization (WHO) and Sri Lanka.
