People’s Bank celebrates Thai Pongal

A special ceremony was organised yesterday (15 January) to commemorate the festival of Thai Pongal at the Kotahena branch of People’s Bank under the patronage of People’s Bank Chief Executive Officer/General Manager N. Vasantha Kumar. At this ceremony a special Hindu Pooja was held to invoke blessings on the country, people and customers of People’s Bank.

Banking transactions were carried out at this ceremony that witnessed a number of Hindu cultural events being held. People’s Bank Deputy General Manager (Operations) Boniface Silva, Assistant General Manager (Western Zone 1) R. Ranathunga, Regional Manager (Colombo North) D.M.A.J. Dassanayaka, Assistant Regional Manageress G.L.D. Gunawardane, K.K.P.L. Sugathadasa, Branch Manager V.T.R. Vasantha together with the staff and a large gathering of customers of People’s Bank were present at this occasion.

On a similar note, the People’s Bank branches were open for banking in areas largely populated by the Hindu faith. Ceremonies commemorating Thai Pongal were held at these branches while banking transactions were also carried out.
