Parliamentary delegation of Pakistan’s Baluchistan Province visits Sri Lanka

The parliamentary delegation of Balochistan Provincial Assembly of Pakistan, headed by Speaker Mir Jan Muhammad Khan Jamali arrived in Colombo yesterday on a 4 day visit from 24-28 April 2014.
The visit aims at further strengthening Pakistan-Sri Lanka bilateral parliamentary relations and exploring ways to enhance bilateral ties between the two friendly countries in regional and global context.
During his visit, Jamali is scheduled to call on the President of the Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapasha. He will also meet the Speaker Parliament of Sri Lanka Chamal Rajapaksa and will observe the proceedings of the Sri Lankan Parliament.
The Speaker will meet the members of Sri Lanka Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Association in the Parliament and will attend a luncheon hosted by Chamal Rajapaksa.
Jamali is a prominent politician of the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), hailing from Jaffarabad, Balochistan. He was first elected as a member of the Provincial Assembly of Balochistan in 1988. In his political career, Speaker Jamali has held several important positions such as Deputy Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Chief Minister Balochistan and Provincial Minister.
Other members of the delegation include Balochistan Government Ministers Sardar Ghulam Mustafa Khan Tareen, as well as Members of Parliament Ruquiya Saeed, Samina Khan, Arifa Siddiqui, Spozmi Achakzai and Mir Amir Rind.
