Pak Army Chief meets Lankan counterpart amid rousing welcome, military honours

Military salutes, including a Guard of Honour and a guard turnout formally saluted Chief of Army Staff Pakistan General Raheel Sharif, when he visited the Army Headquarters on Saturday morning.

A colour-rich Guard of Honour at the Ministry of Defence grounds presented arms and saluted the visiting Army Chief on arrival in accordance with military traditions after a Guard Turnout greeted him. 



The Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva received General Raheel Sharif and introduced senior Army officers, including Chief of Staff, Major General Jagath Dias, Deputy Chief of Staff, Major General Mahinda Ambanpola and all other Principal Staff Officers to the visiting Army Chief. 



During the cordial meeting that ensued, both sides shared views on several current and relevant issues. 

The Pakistan Army Chief also received a detailed briefing on matter of professional and mutual interest by Director General, General Staff, Major General B.A. Perera. Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and several Directors also participated in the presentation of briefing to Pakistan’s Army Chief.



The visiting Army Chief was also invited to leave memories by signing the VIP visitors’ book at the Commander’s Office.

Exchange of token mementoes between both Army Chiefs brought the formal visit to an end.



Later in the day Pakistan’s Army Chief visited Sri Lankan Military Academy Diyatalawa , where he presented eight thorough-breed horses to the Sri Lankan Army. The Commandant of the Sri Lankan Military Academy received these horses in the presence of the DG Army Training Command.



These horses were bred and fed at the world renowned Mona farms which is the prime breeding grounds for finest quality horses for Pakistan Army.
