Over 1300 drunk drivers arrested

The police have arrested over 1300 drivers since Christmas eve, for driving while under the influence of liquor, the police media unit said. According to data released by the police 1305 drunk drivers were arrested between 24 December and 28 December. Of those arrested 707 are motorcyclists and 438 are three-wheel drivers, the police media unit said. The police have also arrested six passenger bus drivers who were drunk at the time they were behind the wheel. The police had arrested 246 drunk drivers from around the island on 28 December, the police media unit added. (Colombo Gazette)
