Outgoing Philippines envoy calls on President

The outgoing non-resident Philippines ambassador to Sri Lanka, Bahnarim Abu Guinomla, called on President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Tress on Wednesday.

While thanking Sri Lanka for its hospitality during his tenure, Guinomla said to the President, “Under your leadership, tremendous progress has been made.”

During the conversation with Ambassador Guinomla, President Mahinda Rajapaksa requested Philippines to consider establishing an embassy in Sri Lanka. Both the President and the Ambassador also agreed on the importance of having direct air connectivity between the two countries to boost trade and increase people-to-people interaction.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Ambassador Guinomla spoke about a host of issues of mutual interest, including the need to further improve the welfare of migrant workers and domestic workers, tourism and strengthening bilateral relations.
