The Opposition will not get lucky anytime soon, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said, adding that he hopes that one day they will.
Speaking at an election rally, the President said that the Opposition is making baseless allegations on the Government ahead of the Uva Provincial Council elections.
He said the Opposition is claiming that Government officials are being used for election campaigning.
However, the President dismissed the claims and said that when he checked with the Police on some polls-related violations and violence, he found that the claims were false.
The President insisted that the Government had already won the Uva polls so there was no need to fight over it. He urged the Opposition to speak the truth so one day they would eventually taste success. (Colombo Gazette)
