The main opposition United National Party (UNP) is to commence a joint opposition campaign against the rising cost of living and other issues faced by the country’s people.
UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake told that members of the joint opposition had met last week and decided that a campaign needs to be launched demanding the Government to address the issues faced by the people. Members of the UNP, Tamil National Alliance, Democratic People’s Front led by Mano Ganesan, Dr. Wickramabahu Karunaratne, and Siritunga Jayasuriya have met to discuss the issue.
Attanayake said the joint opposition members are scheduled to meet this week to discuss in detail about the campaign since no finality was reached at last week’s meeting.
“We will decide on the action to be taken this week and proceed accordingly,” he said, adding that people in the country were burdened with many issues that need urgent solutions.
