Norway appreciates Government’s efforts to restore normalcy in north

The Ambassador of Norway to Sri Lanka Grete Løchen paid a courtesy call on President Mahinda
Rajapaksa at the President’s House in Colombo yesterday.
During the friendly discussion, the President and Ambassador Løchen exchanged views on current developments in Sri Lanka. The Norwegian Ambassador expressed satisfaction over the measures taken by the Government under the leadership of President Rajapaksa to restore normalcy in the north after the end of the war. She also said that her government was pleased with the decision by the Sri Lankan Government to hold provincial council elections in the region.
President Rajapaksa said his government is ready to work with the newly elected Northern Provincial Council to ensure economic and social progress of the people living in the area. Presidential Advisor for Nutrition Dr. Lalith Chandradasa was also present.
