Nominations for provincial polls start on 24 or 25 July

Nominations will be called for the provincial council elections for the Northern, North Western and Central Provinces on 24 or 25 July onwards depending on when the Gazette notification is issued, the Elections Secretariat said yesterday.
Deputy Elections Comm-issioner M.M.Mohammad told the media yesterday that if the gazette notification was issued on Wednesday, the Elections Secretariat will accept nominations from 24 to 31 July, whereas if the Gazette was issued today (Thursday) nominations will be called from 25 July to 1 August.
The deadline for registration of displaced voters in the north and east meanwhile concluded at midnight on Tuesday.
