No space to shatter Indo-Lanka relations

President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh have stressed that the relations between the two countries, continued since time immemorial, will never be weakened.

The two leaders made these observations during a bilateral meeting yesterday in Rio de Janeiro in sideline to United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, Rio + 20.

Both leaders discussed the historic relation and the need to be in constant vigil over the strengthening of relation. During crucial times, the two states should explore the possibility of arriving at solutions through negotiations.

The progress of the housing project with the assistance of Indian Government to build 50,000 homes for the internally displaced persons in Northern and Eastern Provinces was also discussed. It was decided to launch the project soon. The construction of the Sampur power project was also discussed.
