The Supreme Court yesterday (16) extended the undertaking given by the Attorney General that no interview would be held in respect of the appointment for the post of Director, Sri Lanka National Hospital until Dr. Sujatha Senaratne’s FR petition is considered for leave to proceed by the Court.
Chief Justice Shirani A.Bandaranayake fixed to be resumed on 23 May the FR petition filed by Dr. Senaratne for the refusal to accept her application for the post of Director of Sri Lanka National Hospital. Dr. Senaratne in her petition filed by G.G. Arulpragasam bemoans the impugned dogmatic refusal to accept her application merely seeking candidacy only for the post of Director, Sri Lanka National Hospital. Sanjeeva Jayawardena with Rajeev Amarasuriya appeared for the Petitioner. Romesh de Silva PC appeared for the PSC. Deputy Solicitor General Indika Demuni de Silva appeared for the Attorney General.
Petitioner cited Health Ministry Secretary Dr Ravindra Ruberu, Director General of Health Services Dr. U. Ajith Mendis and Members of the Public Service Commission as well as the Attorney General as Respondents. Petitioner Dr. Senaratne is presently the Deputy Director of the Sri Lanka National Hospital.
