The Leader of the Opposition on Monday contemplated moving a no-confidence motion against Minister of Public Order, Disaster Management and Christian Affairs John Amaratunga over alleged lapses in law enforcement.
Highlighting the recent brawl between members of the Wattala Pradeshiya Sabha, MP de Silva expressed his displeasure for the delay to arrest the culprits who punched the Chairman.
“This is a politically-motivated attack. Minister John Amaratunga has failed to take action. Sri Lanka Freedom Party members at grassroots are harassed,” he said pledging to provide more information during the debate scheduled for next Tuesday. According to Parliament sources, Minister Amaratunga faced and survived a similar no-confidence motion while in the previous UNP Government.
