State Minister of Child Affairs Rosy Senanayake recently declared that whilst the previous Government’s corrupt ways were centred around personal gain, the present Government’s focus is entirely on the well-being of the people of Sri Lanka.
These concerns were addressed by the State Minister at the Digasiri Senior Citizens Organisation and the Randiyadahara Prajamula Organisation in Godagama. At the recent gathering, the State Minister said, “While the previous President tried to make his own sons princes, our new Government wants to make all the children of our country loyalty.” She also brought to attention the injustices that many citizens faced under the old regime, when their hard earned income was being taxed, just to be misused by the Government for personal and selfish gains.
At the gathering she also stated, “The wasteful living of the previous Government, which is highlighted by the palaces they built for themselves, was acknowledged as a national waste. The previous Government brought about their own demise because of their corrupt ways. The present Government understands this situation, and moving forward, the citizens of the country will always remain our main focus. There are still promises from the 100-day plan that we are yet to fulfil and we need the help of the opposition to fulfil these plans. I am meeting with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to address some of these issues in the areas of nutrition, protection, and education.”
