Neomal Perera leads successful business forum from Sri Lanka in Israel

A business delegation from Sri Lanka consisting of 40 business leaders led by Deputy Minister of External Affairs, Sri Lanka Neomal Perera, who himself is a business leader completed a successful Business Forum in Israel, interacting with their Israeli counterparts, L.R. Group, Sri Lanka-Asia Chamber of Commerce and the community on tourism, hi-tech, water, energy, medical, apparel, employment, agriculture, greenhouse cultivation, dairy, fish, flowers, diamonds, gems, jewelry, rubber, education and other topics suggested by delegates of the forum Dr. Lakshman Jayaweera, Chairman of the BOI, Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, Deputy Governor of Sri Lanka the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and a number of business leaders from Chambers of Commerce and various sectors addressed the seminars/workshops and took part in the deliberations. The Sri Lanka delegation was taken on a tour of religious and cultural sites in Bethlehem, Nazareth and Jerusalem old city as well. In addition to the visit of an Israeli trade delegation to Sri Lanka consisting of 21 members, during the CHOGM 2013 there will be another business delegation from Israel visiting Sri Lanka in October, consisting of top business leaders and industrialists to follow up on the initial visit. A reception for the delegates was held at the official residence of Ambassador Sarath Wijesinghe. The Business Forum was organised by the Sri Lanka Embassy with the support of the Ministry of External Affairs in Sri Lanka, Export Development Board of Sri Lanka, L.R. Group in Israel and the Israel – Asia Chamber of Commerce. Deputy Minister Neomal Perera met his Israeli counterpart Tzahi Hanegbi Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, in Israel for bilateral talks covering matters of mutual interest. The forum was a tremendous success with the Sri Lankan delegates meeting and making immediately with the Israeli business community.
