The resolution to the national question must be found in the new Constitution that is currently being framed, Opposition Leader R. Sampanthan told visiting Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg yesterday.
At a meeting between the visiting Norwegian Prime Minister and the Leader of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) and Leader of the Opposition in Colombo yesterday, Sampanthan also brought to the notice of the Prime Minister of the various issues faced by the Tamil people in the North and East.
He pointed out even though some of the lands have been released by the military in North and East, there could have been much more done by the Government in this matter. He further stated that the resettlement processes too could have been done speedily by the Government.
Speaking at the meeting with regard to the Office of the Missing Person’s bill TNA Jaffna District Legislator M.A. Sumanthiran who met the visiting Premier with the Opposition Leader, said it was a positive step that Government had taken in finding the truth which will lead to a true reconciliation.
The Prime Minister assured that Norway would continuously and constructively be engaged with Sri Lanka in supporting to its economic development and also in the reconciliation process, the TNA said in a media release.
