MR removes security for Hirunika

Western Provincial Councillor Hirunika Premachandra who defected to the Opposition on Monday has announced that her security was withdrawn as she was returning home from a press conference at the Opposition Leader’s Office.

“Thank you very much Maharajanani,” Premachandra posted on her Facebook page on Monday night. Premachandra had also been provided special Police security following the murder of her father Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra but this security had also been withdrawn following her defection. “As soon as I got home the Police security had also been withdrawn,” she said on her Facebook page. The Colombo District vote-topper in the 2014 Western PC poll, said at the press briefing on Monday that there were threats to her security. (DB)
