Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday criticised the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), saying that they had been harassing several individuals by visiting their houses to search for his belongings.
He made this statement while attending a religious ceremony at the Korathota Pathini Bodiya for which he was over a half hour late. Addressing the gathering, he explained that the reason for his delay was because he had to look into the matter of the CID conducting search operations on other houses for his belongings.
“Today the CID has gone to other houses in search of my belongings. My belongings are in my house and not in anyone else’s houses. Insult me as much as you want, and try to tarnish my image but do not jeopardise the security of the country,” Rajapaksa said.
