President Mahinda Rajapaksa today alleged that the opposition Presidential candidate Maithripala Sirisena has signed a secret deal with the Tamil National Alliance (TNA).
Speaking at an election rally in Chilaw, the President claimed that the secret deal was formulated by a team which includes TNA Parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran.
“We are watching these things very closely. These things need to be revealed,” the President added.
He urged the public not to forget what the LTTE did and the fact that they have been defeated militarily.
The President said that pro-LTTE groups operating overseas now want to see him defeated at the Presidential elections next month and want to take him to the Hague.
“As long as the Sri Lankan public are here they will not allow me to be taken to the Hague,” the President said.
He also rejected the allegations raised over the development projects in the country saying the opposition claims they could have implemented the same projects for a lesser cost and yet never did it when they were in power.
The President also raised objections to the comments made with regards to his sons adding that there are police complaints against the sons of those who make those allegations.
“Let children be children,” President Rajapaksa said at the rally.
He said that as President he has kept his promise to the people since 2005 and now the country is developing with investments flowing in. (Colombo Gazette)
