The Attorney General of Sri Lanka has filed charges against United National Front Parliamentarian Hirunika Premachandra and eight of her supporters over the abduction of an individual in the Dematagoda area last year.
The suspects were indicted in the Colombo High Court by the Attorney General on 29 counts. The indictment was filed on the findings of the investigation carried out by the Colombo Crimes Division.
They are alleged of abducting a man identified as Amila Priyanga Amarasinghe on the 15th of December at a store in Dematagoda and taken in a ‘Defender’ vehicle belongs to the MP and assaulting him over a domestic dispute.
In January this year, when the suspects were produced before the court following their arrest, the Colombo Magistrate’s Court released them on bail.
