UNP Treasurer Senarath Kapukotuwa submitted his resignation from the position yesterday, with sources saying the main opposition party is likely to see a further spate of resignations in the coming days.
The Party’s National Organiser Daya Gamage has also expressed a willingness to resign, the sources said.
Daily FT learns that UNP Chairman Gamini Jayawickrema is also likely to quit his position. UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake submitted his resignation as organiser of the Kundasale electorate on Wednesday after the UNP lost badly in the area.
Sources said UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe is mulling changes to all those positions in the party.
